Trouble At Bay? Isn't that, like, an incredibly lame roleplay?


Yes, Trouble At Bay is originally a roleplay. It has known many guises, first appearing in 2003 on RPChat, a now extinct roleplaying forum. I first thought of making it into a game back in 2009, when I re-gained a copy of RPG Maker XP. Trouble At Bay - The Game is nothing at all like Trouble At Bay or Trouble At Bay - Beginners' Roleplay, and its name is only a beta name thusfar




Storyline - surely you've got one of these?

But don't think for a second I'm telling YOU anything about it. It's all top secret =P Also, none of it has been finalised, either... >_>




Characters


Playable Characters

Name: -Player- Middata (Defaults to Jynx)
Age: 13
Gender: Female
Class: Generomancer
Race: Human
Height: 5' 9"
The main character of the story. A young girl who resents school with a passion and has the mysterious ability of Generomancy - a kind of Silver magic manifested in the ability to create sequences, events and even objects through drawing and writing. She fights using claw-type weapons and her Qintra is gold.


Name: Suzaku
Age: Unknown (Possibly as old as or even older than 1000, as he is the first Guardian of the castle)
Gender: Male
Class: Ganetto Guardian
Race: Guardian
Height: 6' 3"
The enigmatic, self-proclaimed "King of the castle". His abilities lie within Pyromancy - the creation, manifestation and manipulation of fire. He fights using his trusty lance, Phoenix, and his Qintra is red.


Name: Shikasho Wally Sannigo
Age: 15
Gender: Male
Class: Akuaganetto Guardian
Race: Guardian
Height: 5' 10"
The kind yet stubborn, gentle yet firm kid who carries around garnet on a stick. In truth, he is a Guardian, entrusted with the power of both Lakus and Ganetto. He acts as some kind of in-between for Malfonse and Suzaku at first, as they don't quite see eye-to-eye at times. He fights using staffs and powerful Symbols. His Qintra is a light green colour, almost lime.


Name: Schvaeley Middata
Age: 15
Gender: Male
Class: Sealer
Race: Human
Height: 5' 11"
The Player's older brother is almost as stubborn as his younger sister. He learned to like Garnet High after he became friends with two of the Guardians - Suzaku and Shikasho. He gets along well with all of his siblings, and likes to pretend that he has an identical twin that only he can see. Well, I say "pretend"...
He fights using scrolls and magic. His Qintra is red-orange.


Name: Jamie Hopper
Age: 16
Gender: Male
Class: Lancer
Race: Human
Height: 6'
This kind fellow is a Lancer. Not adept at magic, but handy with a spear, he's rather decent in combat. He doesn't see eye-to-eye with Suzaku at all, and they often argue over even small things. He fancies Hannah. He fights using lances and his Qintra is white.


Name: Hannah Brown
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Class: Reaper
Race: Catgirl
Height: 5' 8"
Hyper and happy, Hannah is always on hand to cheer you up. She's rather childish at times too, and this can be her downfall. She fights using scythes and her Qintra is tan.


Name: Kazushige Ooyama
Age: 14
Gender: Male
Class: Thief
Race: Nephilim
Height: 5' 10"
A flirt and a womanizer, Kazushige amazingly like to hang around the more masculine Jade than around more effeminate girls. Truth is, he fancies Jade like anything, and is somewhat masochistic around her, not caring when she slaps him, and actually seeming to enjoy it. His Class is known as Thief but he utterly objects, and much prefers to be called a Multi-Blader. He fights using two daggers and his Qintra is silver.


Name: Jade Warra
Age: 14
Gender: Female
Class: Bi-hander
Race: Human
Height: 5' 9"
Jade is sadistic, sarcastic, short-tempered and actually quite rude, especially to Kazushige. She seems to find Kazushige annoying but actually harbours feelings for him, though very deep down inside. When you see her sister, you kinda guess why she's so sadistic. She fights using giant bi-hander swords and her Qintra is purple.


Name: Sheila Warra
Age: 24
Gender: Female
Class: Maid
Race: Human
Height: 6'
Sheila. Not what you'd expect from a maid, to say the least. As sadistic, short-tempered and rude as her sister, but also fond of a good laugh, Sheila is one of the maids at Garnet High. She fights using katanas and her Qintra is blue.


Name: Herida Gray
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Class: Witch
Race: Witch
Height: 5' 8"
A Glory Witch in the making, Herida is always set on her goal of becoming the strongest Witch of all time. Not bad, considering its both her Class and her Race. She fights using her broom, and her Qintra is a cream colour.


Name: Brida Miki
Age: 13
Gender: Female
Class: Mage
Race: Witch
Height: 5' 6"
Brida is more into chemistry than witchcraft, which is probably why she's a Mage and not a Witch like Herida. She's stubborn at times, but she's also kind to her friends. She fights using rods and canes and her Qintra is light blue.


Name: Chaos Darkblaze
Age: 13
Gender: Male
Class: Multi Element
Race: Human
Height: 5' 11"
Quite a mysterious one, Chaos is Jynx's step-twin. He can control all of the elements - though possibly bar Silver - and does so with relative ease. He fights using bayonets and his Qintra is black.


Name: Akazu
Age: Unknown
Gender: Male (We think)
Class: Barrier Guardian
Race: Guardian
Height: 4' 11"
Akazu is... a ...Barrier Guardian? Yeah. He's a Ganetto Guardian just like Suzaku and Shikasho, but he can control barriers. Don't argue, or he'll send you into next week. He fights using some strange object and his Qintra is pale red.


Name: Mirelle Xilfeal
Age: 14
Gender: Female
Class: Healer
Race: Witch
Height: 5' 7"
The third Witch of the group, Mirelle specialises in healing more than offensive magic. She's kind and gentle but sturdy in her ways. She fights using crystals and her Qintra is bronze.


Name: Archayos Miamoto
Age: 16
Gender: Male
Class: Sorcerer
Race: Human
Height: 5' 9"
This guy wears a funny hat. His friends know him as Twoie. Oh, and his English is slightly weird. He's adept at the use of elemental magic, though not as much as Chaos, and can use non-elemental magic too. He fights using the medallion around his neck and his Qintra is dark green.


Name: Space
Age: Ageless
Gender: Male
Class: Daemon
Race: Daemon/Element
Height: 6' 3"
At first a mystery daemon who "haunts" Ichira, it's found out that Space is an Element with vampiric qualities, and is amazingly good with kids. He has a strong attachment to Ichira, which is best described as love, and will do almost anything for her. He fights using a daemon staff and his Qintra is a deadly crimson.


Name: Ichira Darkblaze-Middata
Age: 9
Gender: Female
Class: Spatial Artist
Race: Human
Height: 5' 3"
The Player's younger sister, Ichira is best friends with Space, and they do almost everything together. She is happy and cheery, and likes to paint. She fights using a giant paintbrush (seriously, WTH?) and her Qintra is pink.


Name: Josh Lunarshadow
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Class: Axeknight
Race: Human
Height: 6' 1"
Kind and caring, but slightly perverted, Josh likes to think he's doing things right. In truth, he's actually quite sensitive, but very smart too, though not as smart as Suzaku (who is?). He fights using axes, and his Qintra is dark yellow.


Name: Tsukaera (also enemy)
Age: 15
Gender: Female
Class: Melodist
Race: Elf
Height: 5' 5"
Let's be blunt here. Tsukaera's money-grabbing idiot. She's a mercenary who will side with the highest bidder, not caring about feelings. She hides behind this a sad past, full of torment. She fights using musical instruments and her Qintra has no visible colour.


Name: Sherra Hasib Black (also enemy)
Age: 15
Gender: Male (So he/she/it says. His/her/its class is a pun on this)
Class: Hermaphrodite Blader
Race: Human
Height: 5' 11"
This guy is one tough cookie. First thing's first, is he male or female? Harder to tell than it sounds. He wears a SKIRT at the prom. His monster form is female and his powered up form is a Witch. He desperately claims to be a guy, and he does have a dude's voice, not a girl's one. He fights using swords when he's on your side and his Qintra is lilac.


Name: Ryujinki (also enemy)
Age: N/A (Time since creation: 7 years)
Gender: Male
Class: Ganetto Clone
Race: Clone
Height: 6' 2"
Ryujinki is a clone of Suzaku. Except he's not really a clone, is he? He looks nothing LIKE Suzaku! Something went wrong during the cloning and Ryujinki turned out completely differently than planned. He fights using cards and his Qintra... doesn't exist.

Yeah, I keep forgetting to PM it to you, so I'll post about it here.

Battlers. As you may be aware, I have a few original characters in Trouble At Bay, which aren't part of the RTP set (Like Selkie in that there pic (she's an NPC though)). I've examined your style and I think you're far better suited the this, so I'll run you a test one.


This is Shikasho's battler. However, he doesn't use a bow, but a small blue garnet. I'd like to to create him another battler, perhaps without a weapon at all. The finished piece of work should be a line art, with no shading or colouring.

Well, it's ultimately up to you, but he currently has a completely magic-based roster which is powered by this blue garnet (garnet is a semi-precious stone, like onyx), which is his lifesource (without it, he dies, basically). However, his final Weapons will probably be something much cooler, so don't worry if you want some kind of mega-powerful sword or something, I'll do my best (however, the battlers won't change, so...).

(He wields said garnet because he's the Akuaganetto (Aqua Garnet) Guardian)

I wonder if Shogun would like a reference/cameo/character? Drake's been taken (his name is now Josh Lunarshadow), but there's still some NPCs and stuff.

Well, it's fantastic, bar a few small factors...

I'm not too good at pointing things out without being blunt and sometimes even harsh accidentally, so please don't take offense at any of what I'm saying, I'm just aiming for some constructive criticism >_<

The first thing I noticed is the eyes, and I don't really like them >_<
If you were to get rid of the bottom line and widen the irises (the part of the eye that is coloured), I think they'd look a lot better

The second thing I noticed (as I work my way down) was the tails on his jacket-type thing. It's probably the pattern and wouldn't take much to edit, but they look... kinda tacky >_<
I suggest making them slightly longer and round them off slightly and replace the zigzags with simple stripe lining. I think that would improve them a lot

The third and final thing is the legs. On a usual manga illustration, the legs are approximately 1.5x the size of the body (I tend to do, on a 5:1 scale, 2.5 head margin for the legs (including the feet), to 1.5 on the body) or something.
If you made the legs longer and slightly thinner, I think they'd look a whole lot better


Again, my sincerest apologies if I sounded harsh or blunt, I'm just trying to give constructive criticism >_<

I think if you made those changes and outlined it in black pen (like a fineliner), it'd look absolutely stunning.

I love it, except the eyes. I've decided I'm going to draw an example eye, but I can't scan it up 'til Friday

I drew a picture of it, but my scanner's broken. The dude's coming to fix it tomorrow, but I won't get to it for a while now, thanks to college >_<

and how can he be an artist if he submits no work and isn't even on? I dropped him because I still have nothing of his and he hasn't been on in months
