| *Inspired by SFG's shiny Steelix* This thread we can talk all shinies from the Metal generation (Silver, Gold & Crystal) onwards. How many have you caught, & where/how*..? (* = Via Action replay or any other cheating device, doesn't count.) What shiny do you really want...?
This thread can also double as a shiny trade post, for those wishing to. I will put down who has caught & encountered what shiny, once said.
Enjoy & discuss. =D
Caught & Seen list; (Legend; Jamy - SonicFanGirl - Jymaru Anyone can catch Anyone can see * = Event shiny #000 - MissingNo. = seen, but not caught.)
#016 - Pidgey #019 - Rattata #029 - Nidoran♀ #032 - Nidoran♂ #041 - Zubat #043 - Oddish #083 - Farfetch'd #095 - Onix #111 - Rhyhorn #130 - Gyarados #149 - Dragonite #179 - Mareep #182 - Bellossom #195 - Quagsire Quagsire #196 - Espeon #245 - Suicune* #255 - Torchic #257 - Blaziken #262 - Mightyena #265 - Wurmple #297 - Hariyama #299 - Nosepass #323 - Camerupt #562 - Yamask #597 - Ferroseed #629 - Vullaby
(I'm sorry Jya, but I can't add the Palkia & Dialga. As it is obvious the one who you received them from, used a cheat code to obtain them.)

| The first shiny I ever encountered aside from the Red Gyarados was a shiny Quagsire in Crystal.
I really want a shiny Charizard, Rapidash and Ninetails though.

| The first Shiny I ever encountered (Excluding the Red Gyarados on Silver, of course), was a shiny Wurmple on Sapphire, of which, evolved into Dustox. On Gold, Silver & Crystal I had no luck at all, when it came to shinies.
This where & how I caught all my shinies, & what became of them (not including Gyarados, of course);
Wurmple (Sapphire) - Caught in the forest (which name I always forget. ^^; ) , caught at level 6, if I remember, correctly. It evolved into a Dustox & is currently on SoulSilver, in my "Shiny box". Pidgey (Leaf Green) - Caught on the patch of grass, just south of Pallet town, at level 16. It is fully evolved, & it too is currently on my SoulSilver. Rhyhorn (Ruby -> Sapphire ) - I obtained in a trade from a friend*, of which he was using my Pokémon Ruby cartridge. It is now fully evolved into a Rhyperior, & it too, is on SoulSilver. Oddish (Pearl) - I found it by chance just north of the resort area, I caught it at level 18. I nicknamed it "Hanahime", which basically means "Flower Princess". I give it to my best friend, fully evolved. It is a Bellossom, & is now residing in their Pokémon Diamond game. Mightyena (Ruby -> Sapphire) - I obtained in a trade from Ruby, that a friend once played... It is on my SoulSilver, also. (* = That friend never comes round anymore... ;_; )
I would really like a shiny Celebi, though...it'd be awesome having my favourite legendary as a shiny, but obviously, just about impossible... ...Before you say...I know it's pink, I don't care about the colour...it's the rarity, & possible giver of said Pokémon...
Has anyone ever seen a shiny, but been unable to catch it..? I know I have...

| Apart from Red Gyarados, I've had several shinies.
Blaziken (Diamond) Obtained through trade on GTS for Level 100 Unown Zubat (Ruby -> Diamond) Obtained in Dewford Cave, Level 9. Evolved all the way to Crobat Dialga (Diamond) Obtained through trade on GTS for Level 1 Ralts. I think the guy was rather pissed, because it also had a Masterball with it - a true sign of cheating. Palkia (Diamond) Obtained through GTS for a Level 100 Dialga (aforementioned Dialga). Also came with Masterball.
I lost Diamond, so I dun have any of those any more.
I want shinies... | |

As do we all... If I find a shiny Staryu, it would be completely awesome. I have seen a few more shinies, but never managed to catch them, & here's the list; Hariyama (Sapphire) - I seen it on said game's Victory road. It used Whirlwind before I had a chance to catch it. Mind you, I only had about 7 pokéballs in total with me, so the chances were slim anyway. Camerupt (Pearl) - I encountered said Pokémon on Stark Mountain. I didn't have any pokéballs to catch it, sadly... I actually seen the Hariyama before I even knew shinies truly existed. I orginally thought the Red Gyarados was to go parallel with the animé, & it's colour had something to do with Team Rocket's machine.

| OMFG I CAUGHT A SHINY!
It was in Ruby and I didn't really catch it... I was just very, VERY persistent with the Starter.
Shiny Torchic FTW
I'm going to migrate it before I evolve it, because I want to see Shiny graphic in HG :3

Well, as we all know, it's all about luck & determination, encountering a shiny. If you keep trying I'm sure you'll find one. I hope you do. ^^ By the way, has anyone seen Shinies owned by CPU trainers..?

| I'm really not that bothered about shinys. I remember my friend going mad when he caught a red Gyrados. I was like, ' So? It's just a Gyrados!' but he was like 'WTF I'MMA EPIC NOW!'
I had some pretty insane friends.

CPUs never have shinies, their Pokémon are always preset.

CPUs never have shinies, their Pokémon are always preset. Actually one or two specific CPU trainers do have a certain shiny Pokémon always in their team. The first CPU to have so was a trainer in Trainer tower, on Pokémon Leaf Green/Fire Red. He had a shiny Espeon. I have actually seen said Espeon and battled it. There is also a rumour that a shiny Lapras is owned by someone in Battle frontier on SoulSilver/HeartGold, but this is unconfirmed. Very rarely; Wally on Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald has been also been known to catch a shiny Ralts, too. I guess if you haven't any CPU shinies though, fair enough... Have you ever seen your opponent(s) (CPU or otherwise) with a Shiny..? I have.

| Yes, but if they have shinies then they're preset. It's not chance. | |

| Random question: Can you use items in HG/SS Battle Frontier?
And I remember seeing someone with a Shiny Nosepass in Ruby...

And I remember seeing someone with a Shiny Nosepass in Ruby... No, you can't. If you see a Shiny within the Battle Pyramid, or Battle Pike which are located at Battle frontier, you cannot use items, but they still count as "wild" Pokémon. So if you see a shiny there, it's very unlucky indeed. Though, seeing the shiny it's self is still notable...

Farfetch'd - GTS for a Level 9 or under Cyndaquil (HG - Level 14) Mareep - GTS for a Level 9 or under Charmander (HG - Level 3) NidoranM - Wild catch (is now a Nidoking) (HG - Route 31 or something - the one to the north of Goldenrod - Level 100 now, caught at Level 13) NidoranF - Wild catch RIGHT AFTER NIDORANM O_O (HG - Route 31 or something - the one to the north of Goldenrod - Level 14) Dragonite - GTS. I licensed my brother to get me a Dragonite and he got me this one... Level 75 'n' all... anyone want to trade me for a normal Dragonite? Hariyama - Wild catch (Ruby - Victory Road - Level 45) Rattata - Wild catch (HG - First route after an hour trawling for one - Level 2)
